Experience and Interaction Design - Spring 2022

Reimagining the Travel Booking Experience:

Tasked with analyzing a handful of travel websites, I conducted a competitive audit focused on UX patterns, visual hierarchy, and brand positioning. I dove into the research to uncover what was working—and what wasn’t.

From those insights, I developed a concept for a travel app that reimagines the booking experience with clearer design, smarter UX, and a brand story travelers actually want to follow.

Problem Statement:

Planning a trip often means juggling multiple apps, confirmation emails, and scattered notes, leading to unnecessary stress and disorganization. Travelers need a centralized, easy-to-use tool that can store essential documents, manage reservations, track spending, and keep important reminders in one place. Existing solutions often focus on booking, but few prioritize the full experience of staying organized once the trip begins.

Project Takeaways

This project deepened my understanding of how critical intuitive navigation is to the user experience—especially in a travel app, where clarity and ease-of-use are everything. I learned how small design decisions can significantly impact how someone moves through an app, and how important it is to reduce friction at every step without needing instructions. Throughout the process, I strengthened my skills in Figma and built a functional, thoughtfully structured prototype that brings the concept to life. I still believe strongly in this project and the problem it solves; creating a seamless, all-in-one tool for travelers is a solution with lasting value.
