Design Demonstrated in Context

The prompt of this project was to design a solution to a problem in my neighborhood. I am from a small beach town where trash is a big issue. Tourists come from all over to come to the beach, and there is only one trash bin at the entrance to the beach. On hot days trash spills out of the bin and onto the surrounding pavement, waiting to be blown onto the beach. I assessed the problem by researching possible solutions and then surveying people from the area to hear their thoughts and concerns. Lastly, I created my design proposal and presented it to my class for final feedback. (Nov. 2020)

In addition to Design in Context, I produced the below work for my Design Process and Context Sytems course. Given the prompt to construct a design for an everyday occurrence, my most consistent daily routine includes making my oatmeal for breakfast. I wanted to create a product design for oatmeal that draws your attention and captures the feelings associated with eating it.
